I am an incoming PhD student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), starting from Fall 2026, and will be advised by Dr. Yue Guo. I’m currently having my postgraduate residency at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH). In addition to my expertise in medicine, I studied computer science in the CS department in National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). Having great interest in AI algorithms, my future aim is to improve healthcare system with artificial intelligence as well as designing digital software systems for personalized medicine.

To be specific, I am interested in but not limited to the following research directions:

  1. Generalizable Fairness: How do we generalize our medical models across different institutions, ethnicities, and under conditions of restricted patient data? I aim to detect distribution shifts and develop new calibration techniques to improve worst-group performance.
  2. Human-centric Verification: How do we build tools that are truly useful in a clinical workflow? I plan to design and translate multi-modal AI models into real clinical settings, conducting clinical trials or simulation studies to measure their impact on patients’ outcomes.
  3. Human-machine Concept Alignment: Explainability cannot be just a heatmap. I aim to translate complex model activations into rich, narrative explanations for clinicians. I will also focus on validating whether these AI-generated concepts are new, meaningful strategies beyond human minds or simply ‘clever’ shortcut-based illusions.
